This year's National Māori Writers Hui was held at Tapu Te Ranga Marae, Wellington over the past weekend. We had roughly 80 attendees throughout the course of the weekend. We were thrilled with the turn out and the support and passion for the success of Māori writing in Aotearoa.
We were able to participate in the large diversity of Māori writing forms from fiction, to poetry, to screenwriting to writing i roto i te reo Māori. We were also able to witness some awesome perspectives from our keynote speakers - Paula Morris, Patricia Grace, Witi Ihimaera, and Anita Heiss who all set the scene for some informative kōrero for writers at all stages of their careers. We hope that the programme was able to inform, "inspire" and help guide the writers who attended but also those who weren't able to attend the hui as well but have a genuine interest in Māori writing.

We hope to see the momentum created from the larger national hui transfer to the hui we hold in the near future.
