Terri Ripeka Crawford
Of Ngati Porou ki Kahungunu and Ngati Tuhoe descent, Terri is a dancer and choreographer passionate about collaborating across different performing art forms.
Terri is currently a fulltime lecturer of Performing Arts and part-time Honours student at Te Whare Wananga o Waikato in Hamilton.
Her most recent performances include 'Paradise' with MAU Dance Theatre in the AK03 Festival at Sky City Theatre in Auckland; Venice Biennale at the Teatro Alle Tesse; and 'Ocean Inside the Body' in Otaota, Papeete, Tahiti.
With a strong background in dance, Terri continues to pursue within her choreographic career, conscious collaborative efforts with other artistic genres including the fine arts, drama, music and film. A member the Te Ope o Rehua collective, Terri is working to uphold the connections between dance and drama and to further promote, develop and expose these art forms.
A keen photographic enthusiast, Terri dedicates any spare time to work on her portfolio of Maori dance photography. This is woven into her wider research kaupapa based on "Maori Dance - The geographical, anatomical and spiritual embodiment of out ancestors." Terri continues to align with projects of both a National and International Indigenous flavour.
Current works in progress include: choreography for a creative arts and performance exhibition, choreographing dance for film, and international indigenous dance exchange and research.
