Lindsay Charman-Love
Lindsay Charman-Love (Te Ati Awa, Te Whanau o Hakirau) is a poet.
Lindsay has written poetry for most of his life and began to write short fiction in the mid-1990s. He has twice been a finalist in the Huia Short Story Awards (1997 and 2001) and was winner of the Award in 1999.
Lindsay has produced a substantial portfolio of environmental poetry, some of which features at the Treaty Grounds Waitangi, Trounson Kauri Park Waipoua, and AH Reed Memorial Kauri Park in Whangarei. In May 2001, Lindsay's collection of short stories, Top Hat and Taiaha and Other Stories was published by Huia Publishers and met with critical acclaim by reviewers.
Lindsay currently works as a historic place curator and conservation advocate in Te Tai Tokerau. His work with schools provided much of the focus for his environmental play 'Karanga I Te Po, A Cry In The Night.' This play completed two seasons touring Northland and was responsible for Conservation Awards for the producer and cast.
