4 Corners

The name 4 Corners originates from the four elements of hip hop culture; emceeing, deejaying, breakdancing and graffiti art. 4 Corners consists of MC Koma AKA Ngakoma Conner (Ngapuhi, Ngati Porou), MC Hepaklypz AKA Hohepa Morgan (Ngati Maru) and DJ Omega B AKA Brett Wagner (Pakeha).

Their debut album “The Foundations” was released in New Zealand in 2006 and Australia a year later. Two songs off their debut album, ‘By My Side’ and ‘On The Downlow’ climbed in to the New Zealand Top 40 singles chart. The release of their debut album in Australia also paved the way for an Australian tour.

The crew have toured extensively through New Zealand with artists such as Che Fu, King Kapisi and Scribe. They’ve also toured in Australia and South East Asia. The group has grown in their live performance with the opportunities to perform at various events. The highlight of 2007 was performing to over 10,000 people in Laos, South East Asia. The completion of their own New Zealand tour in 2006 was also fulfilling as they performed at schools, ski fields and clubs all around the country.

4 Corners has worked with some of the top hip hop artists in New Zealand and this is reflected in their album with guests such as Ladi6, Tyra Hammond, Tyna, Che Fu and producers DJ Militia and P-Money.

2007 was an exciting year for the group. As well as touring and releasing their album in Australia, they were also nominated for industry awards including the Best Hip Hop Group and Best Hip Hop Album at the Urban Music Awards in Australia and the Best Hip Hop/Urban Album at the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards.
