Line-up announced for PAO PAO PAO 2008

Toi Maori Aotearoa Media Release
24 September 2008

Toi Maori Aotearoa is proud to announce the line-up of contemporary Maori musicians selected to play at PAO PAO PAO 2008.

The artists are Whirimako Black, Brannigan Kaa, Ariana Tikao, Pacific Curls and Ruia. For profiles on the artists performing, click here.

This year’s line-up includes the winner of APRA’s Maioha Award 2008, Ruia and the Maori artist to have a waiata in te reo Maori selected as a Top 20 Finalist in the Silver Scroll Awards, Brannigan Kaa.

Event Manager, Ngahiwi Apanui says PAO PAO PAO is a great way to celebrate those artists who have had achieved industry recognition and enjoyed international success.

“We’ve got a line-up that will bring the house down. This is Wellington’s only chance in 2008 to enjoy our best Maori musicians in one hit.”

The two-hour show at the Wellington Town Hall on Friday 31 October 2008 includes stunning vocal performances and a range of musical genres including soul, jazz, reggae and funk all with Maori musical influences.

Tickets are available now through Ticketek on www.ticketek.co.nz

Toi Maori aspires to be the organisation of first choice for all matters relating to contemporary Maori art.
