A 'Virtual Exhibition Hall' of contemporary Maori art represents Aotearoa New Zealand on the APEC Local Cultural Industry Virtual Exposition (ALCIVE) website. Visit http://www.alcive.tw
At the invitation of the ALCIVE Organizing Committee, Chinese Taipei, Te Puni Kokiri and Toi Maori Aotearoa have worked together to present an exhibition hall which displays over 100 artworks from Maori artists working in traditional and contemporary art forms of carving, weaving, visual art, sculpture, ceramics and jewellery.
2006 APEC Local Cultural Industry Virtual Exposition (ALCIVE)
Displayed Objects: Local Art and Handicrafts, including painting, ceramics, sculptures, textiles and other handicrafts that are reflective of the local culture that produces them.
Participants: Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the United States, Vietnam and Pacific Islands Forum.
Specialty: Each participating economy was invited to submit their own 'Exhibition Hall.' Participant economies have used photographs, pictures, text, animation, video footage and more to showcase the beauty of their economy's local arts and handicrafts within the 'Exhibition Halls.' The website also features online firework shows, culture, knowledge, games, learning, discussion and much more.
The ALCIVE website will be live from 29 August 2006 to 28 August 2007.
