Taking part in this year's FRESH tour

Matiu Te Huki, Ngati Kahungunu me Rangitane ki Wairarapa, has a background in Kapa haka (Regional, National, International), Theatre (founding the Maori Performing Arts Trust: Te Whanau Puawai Ora) in which he wrote five plays over five years. He has recently finished writing this year’s Te Reo Maori play for Taki Rua Productions. Matiu is also a singer and songwriter and has performed with such bands as Fat Freddies Drop, Anika Moa, DLT, Tiki Taane, Homefire Burning, and Basscamp. Currently he is a member of the band My Golden Soul.

Matiu is one of the performers that will be taking part in this year’s Toi Maori Aotearoa’s FRESH tour, scheduled to tour Hutt Valley, Porirua and Kapiti Coast in late September 2009. The tour will then proceed to tour the Wairarapa region in October 2009. For more information about the FRESH tour keep an eye on the Toi Maori website closer to the touring dates.
