Waka At Waitangi

The annual display of ceremonial waka are a highlight of Waitangi Day Celebrations

Nga Waka Federation will be sending the following waka to parcipate in the dawn ceremony at Waitangi on 6 February 2004.

The waka are:
Mataatua - Bay of Plenty
Ngatokimatawhaorua - Waitangi
Te Ika a Maui - Northland
Te Aukaha - Northland

Various programmes comprising waka maintenance, safety and training as well as ceremonial practices will be offered for kaihautu and kaihoe in the days leading up to 6 February.
