'Te Mana' will be an exciting season of New Zealand contemporary dance, with elements of theatre and live music.

'Te Mana' is the vision of internationally renowned contemporary choreographer/dancer Merenia Gray.

She injects her signature contemporary style into this new work, with elements of theatre and live music in a breathtaking season of contemporary dance.

Challenging the boundaries of Maori traditions, the commissioned work examines the strength and dignity of women in Aotearoa today, by incorporating the ancient Maori martial art from Mau raakau into the new work. The original live score composed by award-winning Wellington composer Craig Sengelow features Maori instrumentalist and musical improviser Richard Nunns and Taiko drummer Murray McDonald.

Complementing her new work 'Te Mana,' the season gives audiences an opportunity to enjoy works from her existing repertoire including her most recent work 'Time Turned to Stone' with guest artists from the Royal New Zealand Ballet and excerpts from the phenomenal 'Wild Civility.'
