'On the Bus' is an entertaining, informative and engaging tour featuring unique Maori writers reading from their work. The writers are well-published and are experienced performers of their work. The group of writers for 2004 represents a range of contemporary Maori literature encompassing the genres of poetry, short fiction, novel writing and play-wrighting.

'On the Bus' Contemporary Maori writers' tour targets different regions of the country each year. 'On the Bus' was first initiated by Witi Ihimaera and Patricia Grace in 2001 for a tour of Taranaki. Since then the tour has visited Northland (2002) and the lower South Island (2003).

Tour A

9 - 13 February 2004
'On the Bus: Flat Out Brown' will have a season with the Lake Taupo Arts Festival.

Tour B

14 - 20 February 2004
'On the Bus: Flat Out Brown' will tour the Waiariki Region , including Rotorua, Tauranga and other centres.
