On The Bus: Flat Out Brown
Contemporary Maori Writers on Tour as a part of the Lake Taupo Arts Festival

Briar Grace-Smith leads a select group of Maori writers around schools in the Tuwharetoa Rohe, presenting an entertaining and varied programme of recent writing. With a selection of both established and up-and-coming writers, this group of poets, short-story writers, playwrights and novelists will bring words alive, characters into being and stories into focus.
There will also be one public reading sesssion at the Pacific Crystal Palace.
Guest reader will be Rowley (Rore) Habib, who lives in Taupo. Rore is a highly-respected writer and playwright who, through his work since the 1950s, has paved the way for today's Maori writers and theatre practitioners.
'On the Bus: Flat Out Brown' in the Taupo region is supported by Tuwharetoa Trust Board (Hei Ara Kokiri Tuwharetoa Education Initiative).
Tour Dates
The writers will be in schools from Monday 9 February - Friday 13 February 2004.
Public programme: Wednesday 11 February at 12pm at the Pacific Crystal Palace.
