On The Bus - Contemporary Maori Writers On Tour

Maori writers' tour to the East Coast of the North Island

DateVenueCityCountryDuration

'On the Bus' is an entertaining and engaging tour featuring top Maori writers: poets, fiction writers, playwrights and storytellers. They represent the range of contemporary Maori literature today - a genre which attracts increasing interest both within Aotearoa and overseas.

The tour travels each year to a different region of New Zealand. In 2006, Maori writers will visit communities, schools, libraries and art galleries in the Tairawhiti region (East Coast) of the North Island.

The writers are experienced performers of their work, and will appeal to audiences both young and old. They will also give useful workshops for students and new writers.

The 'On the Bus' tour is a great way to catch hot writing talent and find out more about Maori literature and the people behind the stories.

This event receives major funding from Te Waka Toi, the Maori Arts Board of Creative New Zealand.
