About the Hui
Held in Wellington, the hui programme will include panel discussions, keynote speeches and writers' workshops. Evening performances will feature Maori writers and musicians.
The national collectives for Maori writing, Te Ha and Te Hunga Taunaki Kaituhi Maori joined together in 2004 to present the inaugural national hui as a celebration of Maori writing and writers. This second gathering will be an important event for writers, readers and industry representatives.
"It's not whether we write in Maori or in English but that we write well and inspire our readers and listeners." ~Dr. Hirini Moko Mead
This event receives major funding from Te Waka Toi, the Maori Arts Board of Creative New Zealand.
