The Spirit Wrestler Gallery in Vancouver, Canada, will host "Manawa —Pacific Heartbeat", a cross-cultural exhibition and celebration of their arts, opening 10 a.m. on February 11th, 2006.

Manawa will be one of the largest collections of contemporary Maori art showcased in North America. It will include over eighty art pieces by master Maori and Northwest Coast artists in a variety of media, as well as an extensive collection of Maori and Northwest Coast jewelry.

The inspiration for this exhibition is the history, cultural similarities and the many friendships forged over the past three decades between the two nations.

The new book titled "Manawa — Pacific Heartbeat" documenting the collection and introducing the cultures, will be published in Canada by Douglas & McIntyre, in the U.S.A. by University of Washington Press, and in New Zealand by Reed Publishing. The book will be available in mid-December and can be ordered in advance from Spirit Wrestler Gallery.

For information regarding the exhibition, book orders, sale of the artworks and the cultural celebration events in Vancouver, please visit the Spirit Wrestler Gallery website or contact the gallery directly.
