Toi Maori: The Eternal Thread is a showcase of the very best in traditional and contemporary Maori weaving from Aotearoa New Zealand.
The Burke Museum of Natural History & Culture, is located at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, USA.
In mid-2006 a new selection of Maori weaving works will be specially exhibited at The Museum at Warm Springs in Warm Springs, Oregon from 4 June 2006 to 5 September 2006.
Maori Weaving Exhibit Comes to Seattle
The Burke Museum is one of only four venues in the United States presenting 'Toi Maori: The Eternal Thread.' Highlighting how the art for has developed, reasserted, and reinvented itself in recent years, 'The Eternal Thread' exhibits the finest traditional Maori kakahu, kete, and whariki, along with outstanding contemporary pieces.
The Eternal Thread was organised by Porirua's Pataka Museum in partnership with Toi Maori Aotearoa and Te Roopu Raranga Whatu o Aotearoa (Maori weavers' collective of New Zealand). This event receives major funding from Te Waka Toi, the Maori Arts Board of Creative New Zealand.

As a complement to 'The Eternal Thread,' the Burke Museum presents exquisite robes from its internationally renowned Northwest Coast art collection, including works by Haida, Tsimshian, and Lummi artists.
